Wedding Etiquette
In modern times, many people do become very confused over what wedding invitation wording to use, particularly in situations where parents are separated, divorced, widowed or remarried. In fact, wedding etiquette is relatively simple and covers every such case: all that is required is for the wedding invitation wording to make clear the identity of who is hosting the wedding and their relationship with the bride.
Our approach to Wording your Wedding Invites
At WI4U, we have given you complete flexibility in creating your own wedding invitation wording. In our ordering process, we provide ten free-format fields for wording both the day invitation and evening invitation wording. As such, you can craft your own marriage invite wording. However, we also provide (on this page) examples to help guide you:
Formal Wedding Invitation Wording
Generally, formal invitations are written in the third person, referring to the hosts using their full names. Our ordering page includes standard examples for day and evening invitations. In addition, below, we have set out six example invitations to cover the most common alternative hosting situations. If the wedding invitation wording to match your situation is not shown here, it should be possible (by observing the conventions used in the following examples) to arrive at a suitable alternative. All invitations should have R.S.V.P. (which stands for ‘répondez s'il vous plait’) printed in the bottom left hand corner of the invitation, indicating that a response is required from the party invited.
